To The Point Step 1 Experience by Dr. Sojan Sapkota
Exam date: 21 Nov 2017
Result date: 13th Dec 2017
Step 1 score: 251
Preparation time: 8 months
Resources: Kaplan books and videos (2010,2015), first aid 2017, UWorld 2 months subscriptions, Pathoma, NBME 1 to 19 offline
I started from biostatistics, the subject which I am weak at.
Initiated my preparation with Kaplan book and videos. I used to make notes side-by-side.
Study schedule: 5 to 10 hrs. per day. 45 to 56 hr. per week.
Refreshments in between: morning and evening walks, gym, dance, music, comedy serials, meeting with relatives.
UWorld and First Aid are excellent resources.
It took me 5 months to complete Kaplan series
Then I started UWorld 2 month subscription and FA together. Also completed NBMEs in between; all in this 8 months time period.
I could not sleep for 2 days before the exam because of anxiety. So, I used to take short naps during the daytime
Exam day: I did tutorial 2 days before the exam; so skipped it in the Prometric. Took breaks after each block. Felt sleepy during exam too, however, managed to keep awake due to the adrenaline rush.
Finally, I would like to thank all my friends from this group who were very helpful to share their experiences and precious time of their study for discussing some confusions during my preparation time
Thank you and best of luck.
